Can Aaron Judge reach 62 Home Runs?
Aaron Judge, outfielder for the New York Yankees, is currently having a season of the ages, currently batting with a .295 average, has batted 102 runs in, and has hit 46 home runs in 117 major league games.
While Judge will certainly be up for American League MVP, a question has come into the minds of many in New York, and especially baseball fans: Can Judge beat Roger Maris’s record of 61 home runs in a Yankee Season?
Judge has been on a run since early June, where at his peak, he was hitting a home run in every 1.5 to 2 games. Currently, he’s only hitting a home run at around 2.5 to 3 games, which still is unforeseen in today’s current MLB climate.
However, with the entire Yankees lineup, Judge is currently in a slump unforeseen a month ago. Combined with the Yankees terrible record in the last 37 games (12-25), Judge’s hot streak has seemed to be a larger flash in a pan, even with his 7.4 WAR backing him up even as he keeps slumping into late August.
Judge is currently on pace to hit 63 home runs, but if his slump continues with his team’s current state, he could lose one of the most important races in our time.
