Jordan Walker’s Unforgettable Start To His MLB Career

Jordan Walker, an outfielder, who was drafted in 2020 by the St. Louis Cardinals (Round 1, Overall Pick:21), had his Major League Debut on March 30, 2023. He is becoming the most exciting player to watch this season.

Jordan Walker has had an electric start to his season with a 12-game hitting streak; not only did he just put Ted Williams in second place for streaks to start a career for players under 21 years old, but he also moved within one game of Eddie Murphy who also set a 12 game hitting streak with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1912. Jordan is also putting up outstanding numbers. With only a short time being with the Cardinals.

Jordan Walker had often doubted himself when trying to deliver in tough situations for the Cardinals. Now that he’s putting the ball in play, he only expects himself to do this more. Jordan expressed his thoughts when asked about his ‘dream start’ to his season, “There have been some clutch situations where I haven't performed,” Walker said. “But as of right now, at the plate, I feel like as long as I keep putting the ball in play, things will work out. That's kind of my mindset right now. It's just a small sample size. Pretty much just trying to keep putting the ball in play is really my focus.”

The Cardinals staff is impressed with how much Jordan Walker has done in such a short amount of time.  His current stats are:

Jordan hasn’t had any time to really process the history he has made in a Cardinals uniform. His main goal is to keep winning games since the Cardinals are currently 5-7 right now, losing seven games to start off this season. “As of right now, I can't really think about [the record] too much,” Walker said. “A little frustrating day. I really haven't thought about it too much, to be honest.”

Regardless of the 12-game hitting streak, Jordan Walker is also becoming an exciting player to watch. Manager Oliver Marmol stated, “You take it as you can. You can care less how he got that hit, but it’s been fun to watch.”
