Spring Training Prospects to Watch
Through the first two weeks of spring training, different teams have brought up their most looked-at prospects; for example, Jackson Holliday was the number one draft pick of the 2022 MLB draft, being only 19 years old and up to twenty games of professional experience. Holliday is also the 12th prospect in the MLB pipeline among the 30 non-roster invitees. Holliday has seven at-bats with two hits. The MLB pipeline has been doing its job getting different prospects at-bats in spring training for them to be able to face major league pitching, being able to introduce this new generation of baseball into the pros relatively fast. https://twitter.com/FarmToFame_/status/1615872510725165057?s=20
The Reds have introduced a prospect who is Christian Encarnacion-Strand, batting .647 with three home runs this spring. He is coming into spring training being a seventh-ranked prospect coming into the 2023 season; he has a very high chance of being on the Reds opening day roster, with Joey Votto still not playing any games. https://twitter.com/FarmToFame_/status/1632936830415908864?s=20
Jasson Dominguez has made an impression on the Yankees staff with 12 at-bats with five hits, and two of them were home runs, hitting .417 with slugging .917. But is this enough to make the Yankees starting roster with the Yankees needing a left fielder going into the 2023 season? There are so many young stars that have a chance to be able to make the opening-day roster. https://twitter.com/TalkinBaseball_/status/1632480283063644160?s=20
A prospect for the Angels to watch is a right-handed pitcher named Ben Joyce, who was drafted out of the University of Tennessee. Joyce has moved up in the system relatively fast because of how hard he is throwing. He was throwing at least 98-105 in college playing for the Vols; he has the velocity and two slides. One thing he does struggle with is his control being able to have better control, and where he wants the placement of his pitches. https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1629968346820083715?s=20
Ronny Mauricio is one of the top shortstop prospects for the Mets with 13 at bats three of them being home runs, with five RBI’s all eyes turned on him very fast, but the issue with the Mets is they have their starting shortstop going into opening day who is Fransico Lindor. But Mauricio has a bright future and might be called later in the season if there is an injury. Looking at all of these new upcoming prospects, the new generation of baseball seems extremely promising over the years to come. https://twitter.com/genymets/status/1633271895570219008?s=20
