Did Draymond Green End Dillion Brooks?

Golden State Warriors Draymond Green is the infamous talker of the NBA. Green’s podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” won iHeartRadio’s Best Sports Podcast this year, showcasing his zero hesitation to share his thoughts. Although, Green’s trash talk is never questioned, considering he has the resume to back it up. Green was a Big Ten Conference Men’s Player of the Year and a Nba Defensive Player of the Year, has four championship rings, four All-Stars, and two Olympic Gold Medals. He has been an essential part of this league for a decade. Despite all of this, Memphis Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks seems to be very open about his dislike for Green and his playing skill.

This feud all started back in last season’s post-season when in game one of these teams’ playoff series, Green was ejected. Following that, in game two, Brooks was ejected and suspended after a dirty foul on Warriors guard Gary Payton II. Ever since then, the two have been spitting fire at each other.

Recently Brooks has been quoted dissing Green during post-game interviews; Green has been firing with disses on his podcast; Both players have been getting in each other’s faces during games. Brooks has stated, “I don’t like Draymond at all. I just don’t like the Warriors… [Draymond] gets away with a lot too… His game is cool with Golden State, but if you put him anywhere else, you’re not going to know Draymond is.” Draymond had no problem dissecting each part of Brooks’ statement on his podcast, talking about how he, too, would not like a team that beats him all the time either and how Brooks was in high school watching this team build their dynasty and add to it year after year.

Brooks is known to be one of the dirtiest and most hated players in the league, a player with not enough skill to talk like he does. He punched Anthony Edwards and then proceeded tried to plead his innocence to the ref. He has called his team, the Grizzlies, a dynasty because they beat the Warriors one time in a regular season game, which ultimately backfired as they lost to the Warriors in the playoffs. He took down Donovan Mitchell, one of the most beloved players, by hitting him dirty. Brooks talks a big game yet is nothing more than an offensive liability. He is a shot chucker who shoots quite a low percentage from the field.  A game here and there where Brooks drops around 30 points does not excuse the fact that he is predominantly a catch a shooting player who cannot catch and shoot. He is decent off the dribble, but his standing still behind the 3-point line shot seems to change every time. He is inconsistent and cannot find a rhythm. If he was not such a good defender, it is questionable if he would still be in the league. Brooks is most remembered for his flop back when playing for the University of Oregon; that flop goes down as the greatest flop of all time. His comment on Green talking a lot is ironic because he, too, talks a lot, just does not have the skill for it not to be questioned.

All of this made Green question in his podcast why the Grizzlies even like Brooks when responding back to Brooks’ comment on why Green is liked by the Warriors. While questioning this, Green says, “I’m still trying to figure out why they like [Brooks] in Memphis, or do they like [Brooks] in Memphis. That’s a better question… I’m not sure [Brooks’] teammates like [Brooks]. But I can tell you why [Golden State] likes me… When you contribute in the way I contribute, as I have contributed to 4 championships, they tend to like you.” Green goes on to fire shots repeatedly at Brooks, ending it by calling him “a clown.”

Green may be a talker, but what he says has truth. The Memphis Grizzlies are a team of frauds. Their star player, Ja Morant, has been in the news about threatening people at a mall, pulling out a gun on Instagram live, etc. His actions have gotten him an eight-game suspension. Morant’s father, Tee Morant, along with Grizzlies players, was seen fighting with NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe at the Grizzlies vs. Lakers game. This team is a mess, and Dillion Brooks plays a major role in that mess. Green said it best when he said, “If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies are not ready to compete for a championship, look no further than [Dillion Brooks].”
