Pro-Bowl Recap: 2022-2023

Every year between the months of January and February, football fans sit anxiously, waiting to see whether or not their favorite team will emerge the season as Super Bowl Champions. As scary as the season is, the weekend before the championship game marks the loveable and fun Pro Bowl Games. An NFL all-star event that brings fans everywhere together to enjoy the pure joy of football, the Pro Bowl allows everyone to just for a second forget the suspenseful and somewhat terrifying weekend that lies ahead.

Hosted by the Las Vegas Raiders, February 5 marked the first-ever Pro Bowl Games, different from the past Pro Bowls that had been annually celebrated since 1951. The new event includes skill competitions such as Kick Tac Toe, Move The Chains, and Gridiron Gauntlet, and also introduced three, seven-on-seven non-contact flag football games instead of full tackle events. In the skills games, AFC and NFC teams had the opportunity to win up to 24 points, and through the flag-football, they could earn six points per victory.

Without a doubt, one of the highlights of this year's event was the fact Peyton Manning coached the AFC, and his younger brother Eli Manning coached the NFC. The sibling rivalry made the games entertaining and fun to watch. With Peyton Manning’s team sporting players like Patrick Mahomes, Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow, the team was strong, but not tough enough to beat the NFC. With players such as George Kittle, Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, Justin Jefferson, and Nick Bosa, Eli Manning’s team was unstoppable. They won ⅔ of the flag-football games and earned the most points throughout the skills competition.

This past weekend full of Pro Bowl Games was definitely fun and entertaining for followers looking to diffuse the tension they may feel going into February 12. Good luck to Eagles and Chiefs fans everywhere!
