Can Boston Bring Them Home?
Fans of Boston sports are gearing up for what is hopefully a long post-season for both the Bruins and the Celtics. The two teams both made it to the playoffs, with the hockey team coming in first overall and the basketball team coming in second. As both groups are entering the playoffs, the city of Boston is preparing to add two more banners to TD Garden, home to both teams.
The Boston Bruins have had a record-breaking regular season, going 65-12-5 in 82 games. The team set new records for both season points (135) and wins (65), winning their fourth franchise Presidents’ Trophy. The team has been phenomenal, largely thanks to their two stars, forward David Pastrnak (61 goals) and goalie Linus Ullmark (.938 sv%). But recent injuries plaguing the team may hinder the Black and Gold as they face the physical Florida Panthers in Game One on Monday, April 17th.
The Boston Celtics have also had an amazing year going 57-25, just one loss behind the Bucks in first. The team finished first in net, second in offense, and second in defense, becoming only one of three teams to ever be top two in both offense and defense in a season. The Celtics won game one at home on Saturday, beating the Hawks 112-99. The team is looking good, with Jason Tatum (30.1 pts) and Jaylen Brown (26.6 pts) leading.
Could both teams bring home their respective trophies? Something is in the air at TD Garden, and it’s pumping up Boston sports fans everywhere. Who knows, maybe it’ll move to the Red Sox next.
