Current Underrated NHL Players

The NHL All-Star Games rosters have been announced and some of the NHL’s best players have been left out, which got me thinking. There’s no lack of numbers in their stats, so i’m going to list my top 4 underrated NHL players you may not have heard of this season and why you should have.

First off is Nazem Kadri. Kadri has been unstoppable this season, with 49 points in his 32 games played, Kadri is ranked 5th overall in points in the NHL. Kadri is also ranked 4th overall in points per game percentage and 2nd in assists this season. Kadri has registered 14 goals and 35 assits, he is also +15 on the season. Within his own team, Kadri is also ranked 1st in assists and points and ranked 3rd in goals.

Next, in no particular order is Noah Dobson. Dobson has registered 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points in his 28 games played. Dobson is +3 on the season and there was a period of time in 4 games where he was on the ice for all 7 Islanders goals in those 4 games. Even as a defenseman, Dobson has ranks within his team, he is 3rd for points and assists.

Third is Chris Kreider, you may have heard his name, but some of his numbers are truly the best at the moment. In his 43 games played, he has 30 goals and 13 assists for a total of 43 points. He is +10 on the season and currently has the most goals in the entire league. Expected names for most goals are Ovechkin, Matthews, and Draisaitl, but I don’t think anyone would have predicted Kreider playing this well, considering his best season he only scored 28 goals in 79 games.

Lastly is Jesper Bratt. This season, Bratt is +1 and has 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points in his 37 games played. Bratt also leads the Devils in points by 12. When mentioning the Devils, only names such as Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier are mentioned, leaving Bratt to be extremely underrated and unseen.
