Correa goes back to the twins with a massive contract
Coming into the 2023 offseason, Carlos Correa was one of the most talked about because of his plan to opt-out with the Twins. Correa spent about seven years with the Astros before signing a three-year 105 million-dollar deal with the Twins. The twins did miss the 2022 postseason, but Correa finished with a .291 batting average, 22 home runs, and an on-base percentage of .833.
After opting out of his contract with the Twins to go into the 2022 offseason as free agency, Correa originally signed with the Giants with a massive 13-year, $350 million contract on December 13, 2022. Correa was set to hold a press conference a couple of days later in San Francisco before getting a text about some concerns about his physical condition.
In 2014, while Correa was in High A, he underwent surgery for a fractured right fibula and ligament. This hasn't caused him any issues until this past off-season. The Giants were concerned with something physical after the Giants announced it to the media on the morning of Dec 21, 2022.
Later that evening, Correa ended up signing a 12-year 315 million dollar contract with the Mets. After spending a physical from the Mets raised the same concerns as the giants and tried to work through a contract. But on January 10, 2023, Carlos Correa is pending a physical with the Minnesota Twins for a six-year 200 million dollar contract with options to reach about 270 million dollars.
