Does the Dominican Republic have a PowerHouse team for the Baseball World Classic?
As one of the most significant events in the world for baseball is approaching, countries' teams are starting to come together. Team USA has gained big names from different teams in the MLB, for example, Mike Trout from Los Angeles Angels, Bryce Harper From the Philadelphia Phillies, and even the current NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt from the St. Louis Cardinals. All-Star Joc Pederson from the San Francisco Giants and even New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader have both said they would play for Team Israel.
Puerto Rico has also put together a team who will be able to compete with stars like Carlos Correa, Edwin Diaz, and so many more. Puerto Rico is also ready to come back hungry and ready for revenge after losing to the United States in 2017. But the Dominican has put together a team on paper that can be a powerhouse.
Over the years, the Dominican, USA, and many other countries have put together teams that compete against each other. In 2017 both the Dominican and USA faced an elimination game to advance to the semi-finals. That game back in 2017 has still had a massive impact on the baseball community. Adam Jones had a game-saving catch at the wall in the bottom of the 7th with the US up 4-2 to stop the Dominican from breaking open that inning. Since then, the Dominican has been hungry to build a team, go back to a championship game, and win it all.
The Dominican Republic has put together one of the biggest dominant teams in the baseball world. Looking through their lineup, you have world series MVP Jeremy Peña, Julio Rodríguez who won the 2022 American League Rookie of the Year award, the 2022 National League Cy Young Award Sandy Alcantara, and multiple guys who did have a world series appearance this past year. The Dominican has created a powerhouse of a team looking at starting pitching and everyone throughout the lineup. Will the Dominican have what it takes to win it all?
